It's in the Details
I've heard both expressions that 'God is in the details' and 'The devil is in the details'. Whichever philosphy you subscribe to, there's no denying that details are what make something special, and a house a home. Today I wanted to share some of the little things that make me happy when I look around my own nest.
Here are some sparkling vintage jewels and cameos, just waiting to be upcycled!
A peek at my craft cubbies where I store paints, spools of ribbon, and greeting cards I've made. I love seeing all the sweet colours.
1950s baubles that I'll probably never take apart!
A teacup with my inital and grandma's silverware are elevated to art in a pedestal bowl on the dining table.
Pops of colour cheer up my mostly-white palette in the form of vintage pillows and festooning on a hanging paper cone I made a couple of years ago.
Velvet and rhinestones!
Brushes in my art studio remind me of my goal to play more with paint!
Rather than hiding this stack of vintage dishes in the kitchen cabinet, I keep them out as though I'll be having an improptu tea party at any moment!
Antique photographs and cards from friends add life to a wall shelf.
I also love old mirrors to bounce the light around my apartment!
For a bit more whimsy, Venus de Milo wears a Marie Antoinette necklace!
I hope you enjoyed seeing these little details as much as I do every day! Thank you for stopping by! :)

Rock Me, Amadeus
Lately while making jewelry, I've been listening to classical music. Though I'm no connoisseur, it seems to set just the right mood for the 18th century images I love and strive to achieve in my artwork. As a tribute to the music of this time period, I did a little photoshoot with one of the era's most renowned compusers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He liked to wear fancy jewelry too, I'm sure! ;)
Both of the necklaces featured here will be listed in my Etsy shoppe tonight.
Thank you for stopping by. Next time I'll be sharing little decorating details that make me happy. :)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!
Yesterday, my father and eight other cancer survivors were honoured at the San Francisco Giants' annual 'Strike Out Cancer' event.
Before the game started, our family was invited to join the other honourees for brunch complete with hot dogs, potato salad, and plenty of peanuts and Cracker Jacks! Here my dad is being asked to autograph someone's bat. He felt like a celebrity!
We also got to meet some ball players, including the legendary Will Clark and current hottie Sergio Romo. We make a nice couple, don'tcha think?
Once on the field, each honouree was announced and a short interview was played on the 'giant' screen. It's impossible to tell from this photo, but that's my dad out there on 2nd base.
Overall, we had a lot of fun and were happy the Giants won against the Milwaukee Brewers 2 to 1. Thanks to the team and Genentech for their generous donations and for making the day special for all of us. :)

Paris on My Mind
Forgive me if I seem a little more obsessed with Paris over the next few weeks than normal (although does anyone really need to apologize for her affinity with this fabu city?) - I just booked my flight to go there this September! My sis and her hubby will be visiting his parents in England, and invited me to join them during their stop-over in Paris. I instantly replied with an enthusiastic, 'Mais, oui!' The funny thing is that I had just made a promise to myself to visit the city of my dreams again within two years, and then next thing I knew, this opportunity arose. I think that's what motivational speakers call, 'putting it into the universe'.
Following are some new jewelry designs I made this week, with my upcoming trip in mind. I'll be listing these items over the next several days in my Etsy shoppe, but first I've gotta run to meet my mom for a matinee showing of 'Midnight in Paris'. I must be the last fille on the planet to see it.
Thank you for stopping by. Until next time, au revoir!
