Baby Love and Ear Bling

It is a busy time for my family, with my little sister expecting her first child in early February! This past weekend, her good friends Megan and Paulina hosted a baby shower for her!

Here are my cute parents. (Dad left the 'women only' party after dropping us off to hang out with the father-to-be!)

The guests were spoiled with lots of great food and yummy desserts!

Mom baked a black forest cake (my sister's favourite!) and decorated it with safari animals and pink footsteps. This will be the theme of the baby's nursery.

And that's the proud mama in the middle and opening gifts for little Matilda.

Her way cool friend Catalina hand-made this hipster stuffed creature. (I think she should sell them on Etsy, don't you?)

Megan has two of the cutest dogs in the world, Emma and Colette!

Did you ever see such an adorable face?

Though my time in the studio has been limited, I did manage to make some new earrings today, currently available in the shoppe.

And I just had to show you one of my all-time favourite necklaces that I made last week, but didn't have a chance to include on the blog yet. Marie Antoinette gets me every time!

This weekend I plan to design some new necklaces using heart-shaped pendants just in time for Valentine's Day. Please stay tuned! :)

Cameos and Crowns

Bonjour! This is just a quick post to show you a few new things I've made this week. Cameos and crowns seem to be the theme du jour, though I don't think I will ever tire of them!

I love the mix of vintage pearls against the dark iridescent quality of this cameo. This four-strand necklace is currently available in my Etsy shoppe.

These earrings and cameo bracelet have gone off to a retail client but I promise to look for more steel cut buckles in my travels since these bracelets seem to be quite popular! :)

Finally, I think this triple wrap necklace is so fun! It can be worn several different ways: doubled, lariat-style, or with the pendant in front or off to the side. It features a brown glass rosary box with a teeny, tiny rosary inside! This one is also available on Etsy.

What is everyone up to this weekend? Our family and friends will be attending a baby shower for my own baby sister! Little Tilly will be making her arrival into the world in just about a month! I hope she'll love jewelry when she gets older! Au revoir until next time! ;)

Abundance

Bonjour, mes amis et heureux anee nouveau! (I'm not sure if that's grammatically correct in French, but you get the idea.)

My 2012 is off to a bang, with a large wholesale order and a gorgeous day spent at the flea market yesterday. As you will see from these photos, there was not a cloud in the northern California January sky, and a balmy 68 degrees.

It got me to thinking how lucky we are to live in among such abundance.

There is beauty all around if we just take a moment to notice and appreciate it. Whether in the form of grandma's fine silver...

or a tattered old prop once used for function,

why not be grateful for all that we have?

Perhaps I'm most grateful this week for this really beautiful antique brooch I got. I'm a nut for all things Marie Antoinette and this lovely piece is actually painted on ivory behind glass. It doesn't get much better than this!

Here are some other things I've made in the studio this week. Most of these have gone to the local retail market, but please keep checking my Etsy shoppe regularly since I will continue listing new items there as well. :)

What plans do you have for 2012? I'd love to hear about them! Thank you for stopping by! :)
