Like a Prayer

Prayer cards and their imagery are as popular as ever! Perhaps it's their detailed black and white graphics, or sometimes soft pastel colours that draw us in with timeless appeal. Or maybe it's the tranquil expressions on the faces of the saints that remind people of their faith.

I wanted to incorporate these prayer card motifs into my jewelry designs, and with the help of my good friend Danette, I have begun a Prayer Card collection, the first four pieces of which have been released in my Etsy shoppe tonight. Danette created several resin pendants for me, and I have gathered some other antique examples from dealers as far reaching as Australia.

If you see anything you like, please let me know and I'd be happy to design a custom necklace for you! ;)

Soon I will be announcing some other exciting plans for my jewelry endeavors. Thank you for stopping by! Have a beautiful week! :)

New Arrivals

It's been an exciting week for my family, with the arrival of my niece Matilda Gladys! Weighing in at seven pounds four ounces, Tilly arrived just after 2:00 am on February 2.

She is as sweet as can be and our whole family is completely smitten with her already.

Here she is getting into her first outfit, just after having her first diaper change!

And I just had to show off this adorable monogrammed onesie and bib that one of my favourite customers made for her! Thank you so much, Renee! We will try to take pictures of Tilly wearing your designer ensemble very soon! :)

Now for some new arrivals of my own, currently available at The French Circus.

Some sweet cameos on a triple-strand choker necklace.

Disco anyone?

This 'nymph' beauty marries Art Nouveau and Art Deco elements for a timeless effect.

Finally, I named this necklace 'february's child' in honour of the new baby, and because I incorporated amethyst-coloured accents, this month's birthstone.

Please stay tuned next time when I introduce my new line of prayer card jewelry! Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! :) (Is there a game on or something?)

Garden Party

They say February is a good time for gardners to start pouring through seed catalogues and dreaming up the flowers that will bloom in spring and summer. Though I don't have much of a green thumb, as a jewelry designer, it never seems too early to play with romantic floral themes...

And since I haven't posted any photos from last year's trip to Paris in a while, I thought this would be a perfect time to show you one of my very favourite gardens, Jardins Luxembourg.

The vast park-like setting features a 'pond' in its centre with statuary, topiaries, and places to sit encircling it.

This is me and my brother-in-law Ed squinting in the bright September sun.

And, of course, the well-manicured grounds were lush with colourful flowers.

And now for a little something from my imagination, I created these garden-inspired necklaces, each featuring some kind of floral element, from a petit point-covered coin purse to a flower basket, and a sterling silver rose pin to an enamel guilloche locket.

Thank you for stopping by, and please stay tuned for my Prayer Card collection, coming soon to The French Circus! Have a beautiful week, mes amis! :)
