Running Off to Join the Circus

When life gets stressful with work demands, trying to run a business on the side, and news of the economic downturn and raging storms, I sometimes think I might just run off and join the circus!

Life would be so happy there, with cotton-candy colours and tiaras.

My circus would be in Paris, mais oui! A French Circus!

I suppose it is this fantasy that inspired my recent jewelry designs. Creating these pieces really is an outlet for me, an escape from dull daily realities to a magical place in my imagination...

filled with mysterious girls carrying flowers

and bearded gun-slinging heroes.

Where I would be queen of it all!

Won't you come join the circus with me?

Special thanks to my dear friend Sharon for sending me the adorable 'circus bird' card you see in the earring photos.

These designs will be available in my Etsy shoppe this week. Please stay tuned for my 'Red Velvet' collection, coming soon for fall! Merci beaucoup!

Squirreling Away

These past few months, I've been taking advantage of visiting as many of our local flea markets as possible, knowing full well that I won't feel like going as often once the chilly fall and winter weather arrives. I've been stockpiling vintage treasures, to be harvested and used to feed my creativity during the darker days ahead.

Bracelets of cameos, rhinestones, flowers and French souvenirs will soon be disassembled and repurposed as earrings and necklaces.

A girl can never have too many antique portrait pendants and lockets. And look at the detail on those petit point roses!

Of course, a few more rhinestones never hurt anyone either.

Crowns and royalty!

And here is a sneak peek at a couple of new designs I made this week.

This necklace, called 'queen of pearls' is a study in white and silver. The pendant is from France and is complemented by creamy pearls, moonstone, rhinestones and crowns.

'cherubs and roses' features an old brass finding in the image of a cherub playing the cymballs. He is sweetly adorned with a heart, petit point flower, and stones and rosary beads in shades of pink, green and plum.

These designs will be arriving in my Etsy shoppe tomorrow, and I've already begun working on some more ideas. Hint: they will be inspired by my upcoming trip to Paris! Until then, have a beautiful week.

Ivory Shoes

I've never subscribed to the old adage that you can't wear white shoes after Labor Day. And so, with this holiday soon approaching, I wanted to celebrate the ivory footwear I so love, and hope you'll feel empowered to join me in taking a stand (pun intented) by enjoying wearing your white shoes all year long.

What fashion rules do you no longer abide by?
